We developed initially OrMedia for in-house use. An innovative project required a lot of documents and Visio drawings. We had to keep track of them and to find out what each was about without opening them.

Organize Visio drawings

Visio drawings were spread in various directories, also on back-up CD's produced in-house. OrMedia was configured to look for Visio drawings on all drives, including the CD Drive. This first the first stage. Then of course we added some comments in the notes fields.

To ease the finding of the drawings, we asked OrMedia to search for the image (the OLE information). This way it captured in the database the images about all drawings, even those that were on CD's. So we can find at a glance the drawing we are looking for, even if they are on a support (a CD) that is not mounted.

Organize MP3 files with a CD Writer

With a CD Writer we create CD's with various directories with MP3 files. OrMedia is asked to look for MP3 files and directories on the CD Drive.

So we get a database with all MP3's on all CD's. When there are 100's of Cd's, it is easier to knows in advance which CD con,tains which title...
